Podcast: Uranium, AMCs and the Green Metals Opportunity
Patrick Michaels talks to us about using AMCs to offer direct investments into physical uranium and why metals are essential to the green transition. He also brings some actual uranium to the studio.
This podcast is part of The Assetizer, GenTwo's thought leadership platform.
Not everyone may think of mining and metals as key elements for fighting climate change. Patrick Michaels, my guest on this week’s podcast, begs to differ.
As he points out, without more copper, we won’t be able to build electric cars or expand the electricity grid enough to make them viable.
Without uranium, we can’t power the nuclear reactors which – in an age of geopolitical and energy uncertainty – are undergoing a renaissance of interest as an alternative, low-emission source of power.
Patrick should know. He is the Executive Chairman of Zuri-Invest, a Swiss investment boutique which has specialized in mining (among other things) for over forty years.
As well as an expert in the mining industry, Patrick is an asset management innovator.
His Actively Managed Certificate on Physical Uranium, which he has issued with the support of GenTwo, offers investors direct exposure to the uranium market in a safe, transparent way.
In the episode we get into the details of this product, why we tend to underappreciate how essential mining and metals are to our everyday lives, and the company’s focus on ESG in the mining world.
We also talk about the flexibility and utility of AMCs for structuring investment products.
As Patrick says, the beauty of AMCs is the way they make it easy for asset managers to offer flexible, innovative products off the beaten track of usual investments. His uranium product is certainly a good example of that.
And take a close look at physical uranium. Literally: as Patrick brought a sample with him to the studio.
That in itself was an unusual, off the beaten track experience, at least as far as I was concerned.
I hope you enjoy your viewing.
